Item description
This stunning set of four saucers and cups plus a mini sugar bowl is a must-have for any collector of Pisgah Forest pottery. These hand-thrown ceramic dishes were crafted in 1939 and have a mottled blue-green/aqua/turquoise high-gloss glaze on the outside with a delicate shell pink on the inside.
Size: Cups are 2 inches tall x 4.5 inches wide (including handle) x 3.75 inches deep (diameter). Saucers are 5-5/8 inches in diameter. The sugar bowl is 3 inches tall and 3 inches wide.
Marks: Raised logo showing a person at a pottery wheel, the date 1939, and the words "PISGAH FOREST".
Pisgah Pottery was created by Walter B Stephen in 1926 in North Carolina. These pieces of utilitarian ware reflect the craftsmanship and attention to design that he is known for. These are ideal examples of the Craft Revival movement.
