In Egyptian mythology, Sekhmet (/?s?k?m?t/[1] or Sachmis (/?sakm?s/), also spelled Sakhmet, Sekhet, Sakhet, or Scheme, among other spellings), is a warrior goddess as well as goddess of healing. She is depicted as a lioness. She was seen as the protector of the pharaohs and led them in warfare. Upon death, Sekhmet continued to protect them, bearing them to the afterlife.
Sekhmet, which means strong, was always represented as a woman with the head of a lioness or in the form of a lady and the head of a lioness sitting on the throne that is adorned with the sign of the unification of northern and southern Egypt and holding in her hand the key to life the ankh, above her head the sun disk and the cobra snake. The center of her worship was in Memphis, and she was considered the wife of Ptah and the mother of Nefertum, the god of the lotus, as they represented the Memphis triad (Ptah Sekhmet and their son Nefertum).
Ra, the sun god, in the ancient Egyptian belief, angered humans for mocking him. So he sent Sekhmet to take revenge on them ... the avenging image of Hathor ... in order to kill these people. However, Sekhmet enjoyed this mission so much that it killed people to the extent that it wiped out almost all of the people. Here, Ra deceived Sekhmet by offering her large quantities of red-colored beer that resembles the color of blood, so she drank it and got drunk and calmed down until she stopped killing.
