Item description
Pre-viewed for quality and had one hiccup at 40 minutes in, some bad rolling lines for about 20 seconds, played great otherwise. Box has been cut and mounted in a white hard plastic clamshell keepcase and has a small 'sci-fi' sticker on the top left spine.
Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and only available as a cheapjack MOD (Made On Demand) disc.
If subtext is your thing, the film manages to comment on wasted government spending and as the tagline says "the unknown should be left alone".
A discovered abandoned UFO computer system is incorporated within the U.S. Defense systems and is nicknamed AS-MO-D-S (Automated System Managing Offense Defense Strategies) and quickly manifests into a supercomputer. It develops into a giant robot named HAR-V (Heavily Armed Rampaging Vaporizer).
An alien entity in the form of a small flying saucer shows up, takes over, and plans nuclear war with only three standing in it's way:
A wise-cracking reporter for a scandal sheet, a Defense Department investigator, and an Air Force General. The pacing is swift as the trio face giant robot HAR-V and jet fighters equiped with ASMODS.
I liked this movie a lot more than most critics, it is jampacked with excellant stop-motion model work and special effects. The plot was kind of lifted by the 2005 movie 'Stealth'.
