Item description
Our Lady of the Rosary Art Print
In the early 1200s, St. Dominic began promoting the Rosary, reportedly after a vision of the Blessed Virgin. Initially there were 150 prayers, an imitation for the laity of the 150 psalms that religious recited every day. Saint Pius V established the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7, in 1573. The purpose was to thank God for the victory of Christians over the Turks at Lepanto?a crucial historical victory, attributed to the praying of the rosary. St. Padre Pio?s many miracles were associated with his recitation of the rosary, which he called his ?weapon.? (sources: Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia and Franciscan Media) Original is acrylic on canvas. IMPORTANT: Each of the 3 sizes indicates outside dimensions. There is a border of white left around the image, approximately 1 1/2" to 2" all around. -- Signed by artist. -- Comes in a close-fitting crystal-clear plastic sleeve with a whiteboard backing.-- Archival Quality: All our prints are made using premium acid-free fine art paper and archival pigments, rated to last for generations when not hung in direct sunlight.
