She wrote under the name of Mrs Molesworth. ?Her work, though not without its amusements, had a good deal of moral instruction, emphasizing Victorian notions of duty and self-sacrifice. Nine are compiled here for American readers: The Cuckoo Clock, The Six Poor Little Princesses, Too Bad, Carrots, Mary Ann Jolly, Basil's Violin, The Reel Fairies, The Blue Dwarfs, and Good Night Winny.?
