Item description
Vintage original 8.25 x 11.25 in. US supplemental advertisement from the teens silent film invasion-themed war drama, WOMANHOOD, THE GLORY OF THE NATION, released in 1917 by Greater Vitagraph (V-L-S-E) and directed by J. Stuart Blackton and William P.S. Earle. When the nation of Ruthania declares war on the United States, an army of enemy soldiers invades the U.S. and captures New York. But the American forces have prepared adequately for such an event, and hidden booby traps, trick fortifications, and remote-controlled bombs.
The image depicts the film's star, Alice Joyce, draped in an American flag with the 3 stripes in the background behind her. As noted on the bottom, this was a "Supplement to the Dallas Times Herald, Sunday, April 22, 1917." It is in fine+ condition as shown.
