SHADOWS and FOG (dvd) *NEW* B&W and 12 similar items

Brand new factory sealed dvd is Out Of Print in all formats and no longer being manufactured. This a no frills pop-n-go video from Deuce Entertainment, licensed from MGM so I can vouch for the nice sourceprint. I have a personal copy and there is no menu to contend with, it starts upon insertion like a videotape and it is widescreen, auto enhanced for 16x9 TVs. Filmed in B W to replicate older movie mystery's. Woody Allen stars in this hommage to film noir as Max Kleinmann, a hand-wringing member of a citizens' vigilante group that each night patrols the streets of an unspecified town, in an unspecified era, hoping to stop a strangler's reign of terror. One night, while fleeing rabble-rousers who suspect him of being the strangler, Max meets and befriends another runaway--a circus sword-swallower (Mia Farrow) whose clown lover (John Malkovich) has betrayed her with another woman. Amid the shapeless fears of a foggy night, the two of them discover how their life choices have too often been defined and influenced by their anxieties. Virtually every supporting actor is a star--Kate Nelligan is cast as a woman seen from a distance, Fred Gwynne pops up as a face in a crowd, and Madonna has a brief scene (in a black wig) as an easy trapeze artist. Even the town bordello is worked by Jodie Foster, Lily Tomlin, and Kathy Bates! With awkward attempts at humorous dialogue like "When you've got the sword down your throat, what happens if you get hiccups?"
