Vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the teens WWI-themed silent film war drama, MY FOUR YEARS IN GERMANY, released in 1918 by Warner Bros./First National Exhibitor's Circuit and directed by William Nigh. Based upon the book by US Ambassador James W. Gerard, the experiences of the American ambassador to Germany, James W. Gerard, are recounted in this semi-documentary.

The image features a dramatic scene as Kaiser Wilhelm II (Louis Dean) tells the US Ambassador to Germany, James W. Gerard (Halbert Brown), that "I won't stand for any nonsense from America after the war." It is unrestored in fine condition with two pinholes in or near each corner; a 3.25 in. vertical crease in the top of the right border; a vertical scuff on the Kaiser's image; and ransom signs of light wear on the corners.

My Four Years in Germany was produced while WWI was still raging and is sometimes considered a propaganda film. Produced for $50,000, the film grossed an astounding $1.5 million and was the first bona-fide hit for Warner Bros. The success of this film encouraged them to concentrate on film production rather than distribution. The film has its New York premiere on March 10, 1918 and First National Exhibitor's Circuit acquired the national distribution rights a few weeks later.
