Item description
LOST ON VENUS
Edgar Rice Burroughs
Tarzana: Burroughs, Inc., 1935
8vo. 318 pages plus one page of publisher?s ads. Amtor endpapers. Publisher?s original blue cloth stamped in red ink.
Illustrated by J. Allen St. John, five plates including frontis plate.
The second book in Burroughs? Venus series. The book is near fine or better with crisp pages. The boards are bright as is the red imprinting. Just a touch of extremely light wear to the tips of top board corners and spine ends, hardly noticeable. Top age edges are stained red with a bit lightening to the to edge corner. A slight shelf slant to the volume, else a copy of this title quite difficult to find in this kind of condition in my experience selling rare books over decades.
The original dust jacket is in very good plus to near fine condition. There is a slight fade of the red ink on the spine as usually encountered. There are a few clear cello tape strips as shown near the central part of the reverse of the jacket as shown. A couple of minor closed tears along the edge are sealed with the tape as shown. The tape could be removed by a conservator and if after a while this fine copy does not sell, I shall have this done.
A lovely copy in first edition in a rather scarce first edition dust jacket.
