Item description
Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1920's silent Universal horror film, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, released in 1923 by Universal Pictures and directed by Wallace Worsley. Based upon the famous novel by Victor Hugo, in 15th-century Paris, the brother of the archdeacon plots with the gypsy king to foment a peasant revolt. Meanwhile, a freakish hunchback falls in love with the gypsy queen. The cast includes Lon Chaney, Patsy Ruth Miller, Norman Kerry, Kate Lester, Winifred Bryson, Nigel De Brulier, Brandon Hurst, Ernest Torrence, Tully Marshall, and Raymond Hatton.
The image depicts an exterior night-time shot of Clopin (Ernest Torrence) leaning against the base of a hangman's gallows as a man to his right is restrained by two others while the huge crowd watches. It is in very fine- condition with one pinhole in the top and bottom borders and light signs of wear on the bottom corners. There are no tears, creases, writing, or other flaws.
