Arrest and Exile
The true story of an American woman in Poland and Siberia 1940-41
by Lilian T. Mowrer

The story of the imprisonment in Siberia of American Olga Kochanska; written by Lilian T. Mowrer, wife of American journalist Edgar Ansel Mowrer. Olga was arrested by Soviet police on June 29, 1940 in Lemberg, Poland, where she had applied for an American passport. She was taken to a Siberian work camp, and spent the next six months waiting for her passport to arrive. It finally did and she was released. Her half-year in the camp is described with gritty accuracy by Mowrer.
