Item description
This is a RARE Dansk Designs Denmark "Festivaal" Serving Tray in Royal Blue. It measures 22 1/2 by 17 inches across and has some scuffs and scratches along the edge as well as a bit of crazing to the lacquer. This Rare series was made for a short time from 1959 and 1962. About the Festivaal Line: The rarest of Dansk collectables come from the "Festivaal" line, which only lasted from 1959 to 1962. These consisted of trays and bowls made of lacquer in bright day glow colors, which hadn't been seen at the time. They were meant to complement the bright colors of the popular enamel cookware known as Købenstyle. This material however, turned out to be far too delicate for utilitarian use. It would chip easily, crack at even slight temperature changes, and was hard to clean. It was expensive to manufacture as well, thus production was halted. Today, many of the Festivaal pieces have not survived, and most, if they have, are in poor condition. Please see photos and feel free to ask any questions, thanks!
