Item description
AIRBORNE CAMERA:
The World From The Air And Outer Space
By Beaumont Newhall
New York: Hastings House, Publishers, (1969).
First edition, first printing.
Enhanced with over one-hundred photographs and rare prints on striking black-and-white plates.
Beaumont Newhall (1908-1993), began his career as an interpreter of aerial photography for the Air Force in WWII, was a renowned lecturer and professor in the history of photography, had an early career at The Modern Museum Of Art, and was a significant curator of photographs.
This stunning collection of photographs from the air, as seen from cameras on balloons, airplanes, rockets and spacecraft is fascinatingly augmented with the author's expert commentary on photographic techniques, results, and history.
Mild, faint crease to front end-paper, else near fine in blue boards with deep-blue embossed titles to the front cover and to the spine; in a price-clipped nearly fine dust jacket with a tiny crimp to the upper spine edge.
Square quarto; 144 pages; bibliography; index
A lovely, presentable collectible.
