Item description
TOREROS
Poems
by John Gawsworth
Selected by Richard Aldington
Introduced by Roy Campbell
Edited with an Afterword by Steve Eng
[Nashville]: Centaur Press, 1990.
First edition: One of 900 copies printed.
Fine, fresh copy in decorated and printed tan wraps.
A handsomely produced final selection of the poems by this neglected poet.
"In 1961 Richard Aldington, shortly before his death, chose 57 of the Collected Poems for a new, selected edition titled Toreros. Gawswoth added Roy Campbell's essay, but Toreros was never issued, and the unpublished mock-up is now at Iowa."--Steve Eng.
Terence Ian Fytton Armstrong (1912–1970), better known as John Gawsworth, was a British writer, poet and compiler of anthologies both of poetry and of short stories. He was associated with much of the British literary society and now best remembered as a bibliographer and friend of M.P. Shiel and Arthur Machen.
86 pages.
Portrait frontispiece.
