A detailed memoir of the Pultizer Prize winning music composer's life, who is credited with influencing the development of the American sound in modern classical music.
Thompson was a friend of Gertrude Stein and other of the Paris literati in the 1920s, and later influenced and attracted gay authors, artists, and musicians.
His life partner and frequent collaborator was painter Maurice Grosser.
