Item description
AUTOCRACY OF CLASS
By Merritt M. Sherman
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1934.
First edition.
Upper corner tip very slightly bumped, else fine in brick red cloth with gilt spine titles; in a very good, lightly shelf worn dust jacket that is age-toned and is missing two small pieces from the rear panel.
Octavo.
327 pages; indexed.
Observations on the depression and reasons for it with the farm and labor as a backdrop.
Merritt Masters Sherman (1854-1937) owned the biggest ranching operation in Kansas, with around 40,000 acres dedicated to raising cattle and hogs.
His ranch was heavily affected by World War I which he blames for a lot of the problems faced in the 1930s.
A VERY SCARCE POLEMIC!
