Item description
Here is a rare find . . . a CD of recordings produced by George Martin (of Beatles fame!) for the talented Kirkintilloch Junior Choir in Scotland. At the time these songs were made, Martin was an apprentice recording producer!
The tracks on this CD were originally recorded on vinyl and have been painstakingly digitally re-mastered for this CD. The majority of the songs are traditional Scottish airs that one seldom hears in our time. Upon listening to these songs, one is impressed with the purity of the young voices. Unlike today, the recordings were made in one take! A truly delightful vintage choir recording.
Detailed liner notes reveal that the choir was founded in 1936 and enjoyed a remarkably successful career in the UK. It competed in many choir competitions and festivals, usually winning first place.
