Item description

Pre-viewed for quality and plays great, cassette is nice and clean. Box has been cut and mounted in a white, hard plastic clamshell keepcase. The movie was shot in Super 35 and the tape's fullscreen transfer looks excellant, handling the low-key lighting and intermittent but sharp displays of color very well. Great for old school televisions as the image will fill your square frame. There is also a strong and detailed stereo mix that rivals the dvd counterpart, with some effective rear channel activity, and the closed captioning is precise. Perfect for old school televsion sets as it will fill your square screen. Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being manufactured. SUPERNOVA: The emergency medical rescue spaceship Nightingale receives an unorthodox distress call from an abandoned mining operation on moon Titan 37. While travelling through hyperspace, a malfunction kills the captain (Robert Forster) in his jump protection chamber and the engines suffer major damage. Recovering drug addict/co-pilot Vanzant (James Spader) assumes command and determines that the ship's dimension drive systems can still recharge in time to propel the craft back into hyperspace before it burns up in the moon's atmosphere. While the 17 hour procedure is underway, a vessel from Titan 37 carrying a sole passenger docks onboard. The passenger, Larson (Peter Facinelli), turns out to be the son of an abusive ex-lover of the ship's doctor (Angela Bassett), a relationship that left her barren and with much psychological trauma. Larson carries with him an heretofore undiscovered form of alien life, which has an adverse effect on other crew members (Lou Diamond Phillips, Robin Tunney, and Wilson Cruz). Analysis determines that the strange object is the creation of an advanced race containing dimensional properties that could induce a supernova and wipe out the known solar system. Disposing of it will not be so simple, however, as it has begun to mutate both Larson's mind and body. Action director specialist Walter Hill had his name removed and replaced with the new Director's Guild of America pseudonym "Thomas Lee" which replaces the too-well-known "Alan Smithee". It was due to the studio's tampering of the film, which has now been restored to it's original version that Hill intended with this release.
