Item description
SENECA'S MORALS BY WAY OF ABSTRACT. TO WHICH IS ADDED, A DISCOURSE UNDER THE TITLE OF AN AFTER-THOUGHT. by Sir Roger L'Estrange, Knt. Printed for J. and R. Tonson, A. Millar, E. Ballard, W. Strahan, J. Rivington, R. Baldwin, L. Hawes, W. Clark and R. Collins, W. Johnston, and C. and R. Ware - London, 1764 Condition: Good+ in About Fine rebound covers, spine end papers
Seneca was a Roman statesman, author and philosopher who died in 65 A.D. SENECA'S MORALS was first translated into English by Roger L'Estrange in the 17th century. It went through several printings before this one and is still in print today. This copy was professionally rebound in 1987 (see scan). "SENECA: MORALS" is printed on the spine in gold and black. Just slight flaking on the letters; else, virtually flawless covers, spine and end papers. The text itself (with all 8 black white plates) has foxing here and there, some edge staining, some small page corner creases and tiny clips and variable toning, but is complete and has been tightly bound throughout.
