CAPTAIN CELLULOID VS. THE FILM PIRATES
RARE 4 CHAPTER SERIAL
1966
Shot on a shoestring in 1966 in the "wilds" of northern New Jersey!
This fun little low budget film was made by classic film buffs for classic serial buffs. If you're a fan of classic serials or vintage no-budget film making, than you really owe it to yourself to watch this. Its both hilarious and lots of fun and
manages to be incredibly charming during its short running length of around an hour. The fact that the film was made with absolutely no budget by earnest and enthusiastic film fans makes it all the more impressive. They were obviously making this for their own entertainment and that’s what makes it such unique viewing. Very rare, but well worth having for the serious collector.
The film was shot as a serial (in four consecutive episodes, each ending in a "cliffhanger" for Captain Celluloid) and the whole thing lasted less than an hour.
The fight scenes between the two protagonists remain as exciting as the classic Republic efforts. It was mostly done for free by all concerned on days off from various jobs in NYC.
"We had fun, we were actually making movies, and watch out for that hypnotic ray - it paralyzed me every time!"
PLOT:
The film tells a story of how Captain Celluloid of the Film Institute has to track down the nefarious Master Duper. The Duper plans to hijack shipments of classic films (such as "The Big Parade" and "Greed") which are on their way from private vaults to museums, duplicate them, and sell them to private film buffs the world over.
CAST:
Robert Miller ... Larry Steele / Captain Celluloid (as Robert Clayton)
Doris Burnell ... Dale Stirling
Alan G. Barbour ... Duncan Gregory
Barney Noto ... Paul Michael
John Cullen ... Martin Brand
Jean Barbour ... Satanya
Al Kilgore ... Vance
Grant Willis ... Tom the Truckman
William K. Everson ... D.W. Hart
Presented as a silent serial with intertitles and a pulse pounded musical soundtrack which will be recognizable to many serial fans.
Overseas items (eg to USA) are sent by ROYAL MAIL AIRMAIL.
ROYAL MAIL do not do tracking for airmail items unless you pay considerably more for insurance for the privilege – as anything posted overseas (eg, to the USA) is not under their control. This is usually prohibitively expensive, but if you would like your item insured please contact me first.
Items are usually sent the day after you pay, or perhaps the same day depending on the time difference, and delivery normally takes about two weeks (10 days usually, but sometimes longer). During busy periods (Christmas especially) it can take around three weeks. This applies to postage to USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, and to a limited extent, also to Europe.
PLEASE NOTE I AM A UK SELLER
POSTAGE TAKES LONGER (a couple of weeks, not a couple of days).
