About Virginia Praschnik
My artist statement:
"My stories are told without words, so you can hear with your eyes." This statement explains my creative process; to tell the story on a canvas, inviting the imagination to sense-- a where, when or why.
My work is representational. Using oil painting impasto with palette knife allows me to emphasize textures and experiment with color and contrast, giving my work a distinct character.
Born in Uruguay, my mother?s art studio was my playground- starting art school at age five. In 1981, I moved to New York, where I continue to pursue my interests in art: metal smith, design and sculpture. Years later, I moved to South Florida, where I have called Miami Beach my home since 1987. With my passion for art, I have achieved a successful career in both design and visual arts. Yet, painting is my preferred method of communication; my vehicle to liberated expression. To this day, the art studio is still my playground.
