Item description

Vintage original 8.5 x 11 in. Final Draft script from the 1990's conservative talkshow host-themed television sitcom, MONTY, created by Marc Lawrence. It is from Season 1, Episode 12, which was entitled Death in Plainview, in which Monty evaluates his morality and lifestyle after a health scare. Written by creator Marc Lawrence, this Final Draft script is dated February 8, 1994. It consists of 42 pages on white stock plus various preceding pages, all of which were 3-hole punched and bound with two brass brads between a blue front/back cardstock cover. There are no markings or handwritten notations present within. This particular script belonged to the show's star, Henry Winkler. It is complete in overall very fine condition. ALSO INCLUDED are 29 additional pages from a revised draft of this script dated 2/9/94 on Yellow and Pink stock and Henry Winkler has highlighted his character's name throughout whenever his character had dialogue. These pages are all in overall very fine condition as well. Provenance: The Henry Winkler Collection. Acquired through auction at Bonhams (TCM Presents...Hollywood Cool). We attended this sale in person and met Mr. Winkler, who attended as well and spoke to the audience several times throughout the session during which items from his personal collection were sold to benefit his daughter's charity. Monty is an American sitcom that aired on Fox from January 11 to February 15, 1994. The series starred Henry Winkler as Monty Richardson, a loud, obnoxious conservative TV commentator. Richardson had also written a best-selling book titled I"'m Right. I'm Right. I'm Right. Shut Up." The series also starred Tom McGowan as his executive producer and David Schwimmer as his left-leaning son. Monty hoped to capitalize on the same family dynamic that made the television show, All in the Family, a success in the 1970's. However, the show was canceled after six episodes.
