Item description
DOWN THE SEINE AND UP THE POTOMAC WITH ART BUCHWALD:
25 Years Of Art Buchwald's Best Humor
by Art Buchwald
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, (1977).
First edition, first printing.
Warmly inscribed with humor to a mystery author/scriptwriter, dated 1977 and SIGNED by Buchwald to the first blank page.
Buchwald, a Pulitzer Prize winning commentator who was renowned for his journalistic satirical wit, started writing a column in Paris just after WWII, becoming part of the American expatriate artist and literary community.
He came back to America in 1962 writing a famous column for the Washington Post.
This is his lively, humorous, anecdotal, culturally and politically rich collection of his best twenty-five years of writing.
Just a hint of foxing to the outer page edges, else nearly fine in cream-tweed linen with blind embossed titles to the front cover and with gilt embossed titles to the spine; in a near fine dust jacket with tears and minor crimps to the upper and lower spine edges, photo-illustrated end-papers; original $10.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
Octavo; 500 pages.
