This rendition of the nighttime lingerie dress, along with #510 Passionflower Lingerie Top, is inspired by the baby doll gowns made in the 1940?s by American lingerie designer Sylvia Pedlar. Due to the fabric shortages in World War II, Pedlar took it upon herself to reinvent nighttime wear, cutting skirts short for a more varied, fun, and seductive look. One could say the evolution of nighttime wear has allowed more female empowerment and representation in domestic environments.
