Retired Trail of Painted Ponies Nutcracker Pony Christmas Ornament Item #12321 This is a rare opportunity to own a new, long time retired "black box" Trail of Painted Ponies Nutcracker Pony from the 2004 Original Series Holiday Collection. This box has been in storage with a small number of black box original series Christmas Ornaments and although the boxes are unopened, the boxes themselves show wear from storage. Drawing on the imagery from the 19th century Russian ballet, "The Nutcracker", Janee Hughes, a former art teacher from Salem, Oregon, has created a strikingly original and theatrical tribute to this Christmas tradition, as perfect in detail as as a Faberge egg. The Nutcracker Pony is about magic and music and family and celebration with lovely ballet dancers, the sugar plum fairy in front of her castle, and Santa with his sleigh on one side of the pony and Christmas scenes in front of the tree from the ballet on the other. Photos do not show all the gorgeous detail on this fabulous ornament. The Nutcracker Pony Ornament does not exist as a life size pony. It was created only as a masterwork maquette model.
