The Size 4 Skip Tooth blade cuts through mats that finish cut (FC or F blades) blades cannot penetrate. The coat is more accessible to the cutting blade because of the flat design of this blade. The teeth are more open which allows the coat to be cut easier than the 4F blade with its full teeth. A hair cut using a skip tooth blade is generally "finished" off with the same size finish blade to give coat a smooth, finished appearance-skip tooth blades will leave an unfinished, jagged like appearance....for example: if you cut hair with a 4 skip-tooth blade, finish off with a 4F blade.
