Where can i find a quality memorial stone for my pet charra who passed away yesterday?

I want to place a memorial stone on top of my Charra’s grave. I’d like something I can have my own words enscribed into it if possible. Does anyone or has anyone done anything like this that can give me direction.

Hi I am very sorry for your loss. This suggestion is a bit over the top but I know you can have your loved one cremated. Everything is carbon. Diamonds are carbon. For a fee you can have a small amount of the ashes made into a diamond & have you baby with you where ever you go.
The other option is to take the ashes & put some in a small amulet or incase the ashes in a ring.
But for the traditional head stone If I wanted it very personal, I would go to a craft store & purchase either a stepping stone mold or figurine mold & make it myself.I have a plaster square set on kodys grave. On the plaster we took his photo & put it between 2 pieces of Plexiglas then screwed & glued it onto the plaster. We did it in black & white. We then sealed the seems of the Plexiglas to keep out the weather. Have your carving of words anywhere on the plaster then affix his/her photo anywhere Hope I didn’t freak you out but I tend towards the unique & something that fills my heart

Brad… I just did an hpl that features some for sale here. Other than that, you can buy them from almost any ‘catalog’ that sells variety items. I have seen a lot of them.

Here is the link to my hpl. I will be back to edit this post with other places I know of (I just have to check them to make sure first before posting.)

Here is one of the listings [URL removed]
(The booth is pando. They do personalization and are very reasonable for the prices I have seen around the Internet)

You can also go to a craft store like Hobby Lobby. In the section where they keep the stained glass, you can get forms and stone cement. They are basically stepping stone kits. They include the form, the stone cement, some stained glass chips & the letters you can press in to make writing. I have made several for my critters. I tried to include a photo on one, but the photo faded over time…since 2003. It might have been because it was printed from an ink jet printer instead of a real photo.

OK, be right back.

I had this similar situation a few years back. I can’t remember the name of the company, unfortunately. I have noticed some of the larger pet stores do carry stones. I’ve also been told that it might be possible to order an engraved pet stone memorial from a (human) memorial stonemaker. Be sure to ask your vet, I found one of our stones through a pet cemetary in our area. I’m very sorry for your loss and know how important it is to have a nice memorial stone and your own loving words. Please check with your vet, I bet they can give you a few places to try.

Brad,
So sorry for your loss, my Chi-Ba-Ba as our Down Syndrome child calls her..sleeps in my pillowcase every night.
I had a relative who is gone now that worked in the funeral industry and sent me to a local person that did human markers and he just had a huge selection of ends and pieces that were VERY cost effective and he did the inscription for me for all of our pets that have passed away..you may be better off checking it out locally first and if no luck there, I have seen on line companies that will do them in metal, your words and they have a spike that just slips into the ground and you can remove it when needed for gardening etc..and they were inexpensive.

I wonder if your Vet would know someone. My daughter has painted stones for Family members pets. However we live in Wisconsin and no way could we mail a stone to you. If your vet doesn’t know maybe your local humane society would know someone. Good Luck! And I am so sorry for your loss.

When our “Thumper” pet dog died, it was traumatic! I took comfort in hand preparing a ‘grave marker’ for him. We happened to have blocks of granite and I do art painting. It was May and the Irises were in full bloom. I took my acrylic paints out and got to work painting flowers, name and details on the face of the stone. This way, I could put whatever I wanted to at my own pace. That was a few years ago and the paint held well for all this time and I am still very pleased.

You could go to a tile store and ask for a discontinued sample of Onyx (4×8″) or so and do your own thing. It feels rewarding. Take your time and enjoy. Best regards, Judith

So sorry for your loss, Brad. I’m sure your town has a pet cemetery, we have a childhood pet buried in my hometown.

If you can’t find a stone locally – think about making one. You can buy a plaster kit and place it on an outside stone already made- buy templates if you need help with the lettering or art- spread the plaster on top of the ready made stone, use the templates to put on the stone what you’d like, then paint with outside paints and spray on an outside protectant.

Just an idea… (((Many hugs to you for your furbaby loss))
