Slow? Oh no! Say it ain't so, Joe!

Update Oct 14th @ 2 PM: We contracted some server professionals this morning who have swapped out half the software used to run Bonanzle to a different platform better built for sites with lots of traffic. In all tests since, I've gotten login page to load in usually 3-5 seconds, 10 tops. This is a good sign. Just wanted to drop the briefest of lines here to say that yes we have noticed that the site (in particular, the secure pages, like the login, new user form, and eBay importer) has been lagging a bit during peak hours the last couple days (in particular, today). It is my sole focus currently to stamp out whatever is making the login page lag, and I'm sure it will be ironed out by mid-week. Which means you Tuesday Ticklers may have to deal with a bit of lag... we shall see. In the meantime, you can make your life slightly easier if you click the "Stay logged in" checkbox when you login, that way you don't have to visit the page in the first place. If you do have to visit the page, rest assured it will always load eventually, but sometimes it is taking 1-2 minutes during our peak traffic times. This should help to explain some of what is making it difficult for the site to keep up: Thanks a lot for the traffic, you jerks. :-)

The growth is amazing! I have watched Bonazles rank go up in leaps on quantcast and alexa since I first joined on the 15 of Aug, no steady rise, just zoooooom.
You built it, we came, and they are stillllll coming!
These are amazing numbers for such a young site. Let’s keep em coming, and Bill will simply have to cut down on all that sleep time he currently has, lol.

Fantastic….thanks for the post!

We knew it was the influx of activity! (in the realm of no good deed goes unpunished, methinks!) But… wow.

On the technical side: by having two booths running, it’s necessary to log out and in if you’re working between ‘em. That might be one of the issues, as many have multiple booths… Is there any way to ’hold’ two ID’s and two logins coming from one computer to cut down on that back-and-forth?

Loading pictures and saving listings was really slow yesterday, but it is MUCH improved today. Thanks, guys!

Did you see the endorsement from Lisa Suttora this morning? Awesome! That should continue to bring in new traffic. What a good problem!

I so have been waiting for a site like this to come along … as thankful as I am for my sales on ebay … their fees and feedback rules are just ridiculous!

I feel a little guilty, as we probably put a huge dent in Bill’s love life (and Mark too)…..I mean they must be up all night keeping us in business! Thanks Guys!

Has the site always been hosted on Amazon’s servers, or is that something new?

bharding says: 10/20/08 at 00:24:04

Only the images are hosted on Amazon’s servers. We’ve been doing that for a few months now. Amazon has a faster system setup for downloading images than we ever could have :)
