When creating 2-drop even count peyote stitch designs, I often turn to fabrics or ethnic/tribal motifs for my inspiration. In this case, it was the fabric art of the Dayak tribe in Borneo. I love the graceful curves & swirls of the design.
For this bracelet, I chose a jewel-tone bead mix on a white background, certainly not a traditional tribal color combination, but it's one I love. The beads in the mix are primarily shades of blue, but there are also yellow/amber beads in the mix.
The bracelet is hand-woven, 2 small beads at a time, using a technique called 2-drop peyote stitch, a technique that gives the piece a lovely drape, almost like fabric. It measures 1" (2.5cm) wide & approximately 7.25" (18.4 cm) long, including the silver-tone tube clasp.
