Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1940's Universal horror film, THE MAD GHOUL, released in 1943 by Universal Pictures and directed by James P. Hogan. Based upon an original story by Hanns Kräly, a university chemistry professor (George Zucco) experiments with an ancient Mayan gas on a medical student (David Bruce), turning the would-be surgeon into a murdering ghoul. The cast includes Evelyn Ankers, Turhan Bey, Robert Armstrong, Milburn Stone, and Andrew Tombes.
Issued for the film's 1949 US theatrical re-release by Realart, the image features a scene depicting university chemistry professor Dr. Alfred Morris (George Zucco) with one of his medical students, Ted Allison (David Bruce), who is soon transformed by the professor's ancient Mayan gas (not the bodily type) into the Ghoul! It is in very fine- condition with a 0.25 in. diagonal crease on the top right corner and a very light 2 in. horizontal crease on the bottom left corner. The image quality is razor-sharp with very fine detail and great contrast.
