This plate - dish - was explained to me to be a resting place for a teapot or coffee pot.  One would set the hot pot on this plate and the heat would escape because the dish has grooves in it to raise up off the dish itself so it would not break.  I have done research on the S.A.L.E.N. sticker and have come up with nothing.  This platter is in excellent condition.  No chips, cracks, crazing, flea bites.  Bright and vivid colors to it.  The bird that is painted on the item is a Phoenix bird.  Typical of Italian pottery to have them painted on anything pottery.  The gold label reads:  ARTICOLI DA REGALO...S.E.L.A.N. … VIA PORTA EOSSA. 107/R...FIRENZE.  SIGNED Laruai. 

This platter measures almost 8 inches x 6 3/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches wide x 1 1/4 inches tall.
