1 - "Standard" size Arkansas Black Apple Fruit Tree - Ships Now
Hurry while this limited supply lasts. Last year they sold out fast...
Our fruit trees are now dormant, they will be carefully lifted from the beds, checked and cleaned, and put into cold storage. Then, as the order is prepared, they will be checked and packed as bare root. We best ship these when they are dormant, so order from Now through early Spring. This one is currently about 16+ inches... may be lightly trimmed.
The Apples are very popular nearly nationwide. They can grow in most climates and growing conditions, from the dry desert to colder northern regions, in most soils. Plant them in the landscape design where they can be seen. This tree has white flowers in the Spring, and produces dark red to blackish sweet fruit in late Summer. Good for eating, but pies and jam can be done also. Plant singly or in lines or groups. Hardy from USDA Plant Zones 5 to 10, and heights can get to about 10 feet tall. Prefers full sun, moderate water, most soils.
Yes... this is the "Standard" size Arkansas Black variety (Malus spp.), a good hardy type, grown from "budding" or/and "grafts". Self-pollinating, but you might have best success planting with another variety. We do offer other Apples and fruit trees in our Etsy Shop.
This tree is 2 year olds, small, not much for roots (which is normal), typically a single stem, but good hardy plants checked before packing.

Plan on this:
If you live in the Southern half of the country, order starting November, and take delivery right away. Plant (or pot) the tree right away. You can plant as long as your ground is not frozen. Put a thick layer of mulch around it. Get planted by mid-April before the weather gets too warm for us to ship.
If you live in the Northern half of the country, order during the late Winter, and take delivery early. Pot up your tree and hold it in a dark, cool, moist location, that will get a minimal amount of light and some moisture, but cool enough to keep it dormant until you can plant it outdoors. Plant as soon as your ground thaws. After planting, put a thick layer of mulch around it.
Always best to add a thick mulch layer. Having a thick layer of mulch helps to conserve soil moisture, keeps the weeds down, and helps recycle the nutrients. A thick mulch layer also moderates the soil temperatures, which then reduces the stress on the roots.
