This softcover READER'S DIGEST magazine is in very good used condition. There is a name written in ink on front cover as well as slight soiling to the covers.  There is some foxing to the page edges. There are also some bent page corners.    The center staples show some rust.  All in all, this is an intact magazine in very nice shape for its age.

This is the APRIL 1940 issue of READER'S DIGEST.  It contains many articles of interest, some timeless, some an interesting representation of the times.  Among others, there are articles from Kiwanis Magazine, N.Y. Times Magazine and Fortune.  The Book Section features condensations of TWO books - Land Below the Wind by Agnes Newton Keith and Children of God by Vardis Fisher.  Of course, there are humorous anecdotes interspersed throughout the magazine as well as the Reader's Digest classics, "Picturesque Speech" and "Quotable Quotes."

A wonderful vintage magazine!
