Hull Pottery Basket 1952
Designer Number 72

This beautiful large piece of Hull from the Ebb  Tide line was made in the 1950s in muted shades of pinks and greens.  The embossed flowing script "Hull" marked on the bottom was first presented in 1949 and many pieces included the letters USA like this one. Another interesting marking on a Hull piece is the decorator mark, usually found on Hull art-ware pieces, where the decorators marked the bottom with their identification number, in this case 72.  According to my research, it's not uncommon to see people at Hull shows looking for pieces decorated by family members, which they can identify by the decorator number.

This ceramic treasure measures approximately 12 inches in width, 8 inches in height and 6 inches in depth; weight is 2 lbs, 3 ounces. Regrettably this piece has a hairline crack on the front side of the basket handle.  (See the last picture.)  It is is barely noticeable to the human eye, but I feel compelled to mention it to assure the buyer that I am not holding anything back.

This is a real find!  A great addition to any ceramic collection and a lovely example of Americana.  Make an offer today!
