This is a vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the classic 1960's musical comedy romance, FRANKIE AND JOHNNY, released in 1966 by United Artists and directed by Frederick De Cordova. A riverboat singer (Elvis Presley) with a weakness for gambling wants to find his lucky red head, but his girlfriend, Frankie (Donna Douglas), is not amused. The cast includes Harry Morgan, Sue Ane Langdon, Nancy Kovack, Audrey Christie, Robert Strauss, Anthony Eisley, and Joyce Jameson.
The image features a medium shot next to a gambling table on a riverboat as singer Johnny (Elvis Presley) watches the action along with Cully (Harry Morgan) and beautiful Nellie Bly (Nancy Kovack). As indicated in the center of the bottom border, this is lobby card #7 from the set of 8 cards. It is unrestored in fine condition with an area of surface paper loss at the top of the left border and signs of wear in that border and 3 sets of staple holes in the top right corner of the background area and one set in the border above them. The rich color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
Several retakes were required because Elvis' form fitting slacks were judged to be too revealing, but the cost of re-filming crowd scenes was considered to be too expensive, so Elvis and his bulge were occasionally left intact. Eileen Wilson's voice was dubbed for Donna Douglas' singing scenes and it is her voice on the soundtrack as well.
