OF MEN AND MUSIC by Deems Taylor
Armed Services Edition, #R-23, 1940s
Condition: Very Good

OF MEN AND MUSIC is based on a series of radio talks by Taylor which were first incorporated into book form in 1937. There are 58 short essays on the greats of classicial music. As the cover states, this is the "Overseas edition for the Armed Forces. Distributed by the Special Services Division, A.S.F. for the Army, and by the Bureau of Naval Personnel for the Navy. U.S. Government property. Not for sale." Many titles of Armed Services Editions were distributed to U.S. servicemen from 1943 until well after WWII had ended. This copy has spine creasing and some edge/corner wear. The covers have some buckling near the spine where one large staple helps hold the book together (this is pretty normal for these books). But overall this is in well-above- average shape for an ASE--most fell apart from heavy use. This is one of the small, oblong format books.
