Box cover of artwork has been color photo-copied, but looks very good. It has been cut and mounted in a white, hard plastic clamshell keepcase. Rare and Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats. Pre-viewed for quality and plays fine. Cassette is nice and clean.
Remake of a remake is the best version yet. Good special effects.
Michael York asserts the title role as Mr. Johnson, a Man in Black. Like Cyclops of the X-Men, this alien wears shielded sunglasses till he uses his powerful eyes. Either to hypnotize or destroy. He has a rare blood disease as do most of his people in another galaxy, so he carries a blood pump in a briefcase.
He is here to find a cure and thus precipitate an invasion. He hires a nurse (Elizabeth Barondes) to give him blood transfusions and in his mansion he has a hidden stargate that can communicate/transport people back & forth from his planet.
The machine is colorful as well as the 'warping' thru time and space is pretty cool. Richard Belzer is the butler/driver who brings him homeless people and is suspicious of his alien boss.
Parker Stevenson ('Hardy Boys') plays the hero-cop-boyfriend of the alien's hypnotized nurse. The end is a tour-de-force of colorful explosions, fireworks, and lots of sparks.
