Box has been cut and mounted in a white, hard plastic clamshell keepcase. The top end of the plastic case has been sun faded to a buff color. Also all of the top edges are kind of rough from deteriation.
The plastic window on the spine has crackled, so it has been re-enforced with clear glass tape. Pre-viewed for quality and plays great. Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being manufactured.
Intriguing premise from highly regarded sci-fi writer John Varley, adapts his own short story 'Air Raid' into this feature which opens with a grim depiction of two airliners colliding. Crash investigator Bill Smith (Kris Kristofferson) examines the wreckage. This portion is uncannily realistic.
Suddenly, he finds an artifact that can only be from the future, while being observed by time travelling stewardess Louise (Cheryl Ladd). The story swiftly changes track and whisks the heroine off to a future hell, and some quick plot explanations from a robot.
It seems that in the far-flung future, the world is blighted by pollution, mutations and sterility. So, time travellers are being sent back to the mid-to-late twentieth century to kidnap people from just-about-to-crash airliners--replacing them with dead clone bodies to fool the coroners--so that they can all be transmitted into an unimaginably far future to repopulate a wounded Earth.
Louise is sent back in time to recover the lost "stunner" from Bill. Will Bill's knowledge of the future jeopordize the course of history?
