One of the most popular landscaping plants for hedges, screens, and accents are the Photinias. They are fast-growing evergreens that do flower in the Spring with masses of small clusters of white blooms. They are versatile in the landscape design, even can be trimmed into a small tree. Good for most soils, medium watering, USDA Plant Zones 6 to 10, and full sun is best. They can take the heat fine, and they grow fast. The trick to get them full and bushy is to prune often. Let them grow a foot or so, trim off a few inches, forcing side buds to push out new growth. Repeat a couple times during the season, and they get thick. Yes, evergreen plant that is used in hedges and screens, as well as ornamental landscaping.
These plants are small, new crop, young, about 6 inches with tight compact roots. They are best potted to grow and develop more before out-planting them.
IMPORTANT Note: Plants in this crop are smaller in size than as pictured. They are 4 to 6 inches, plus the rootball.

Always best to add a thick mulch layer. Having a thick layer of mulch helps to conserve soil moisture, keeps the weeds down, and helps recycle the nutrients. A thick mulch layer also moderates the soil temperatures, which then reduces the stress on the roots.
Order early for the best selection... Take delivery early while it is dormant. Plant it or pot it.

Plan on this:
If you live in the Southern half of the country, order starting November, and take delivery right away. Plant (or pot) the tree right away. You can plant as long as your ground is not frozen. Put a thick layer of mulch around it. Get planted by mid-April before the weather gets too warm for us to ship.
If you live in the Northern half of the country, order during the late Winter, and take delivery early. Pot up your tree and hold it in a dark, cool, moist location, that will get a minimal amount of light and some moisture, but cool enough to keep it dormant until you can plant it outdoors. Plant as soon as your ground thaws. After planting, put a thick layer of mulch around it.
