This is a book of West Coast cuisine. "if anything as simple as our cookery can be called cuisine. It is an informal book about the foods we eat and the foods we cook; we love to do both and we think we do them rather well. The recipes are regional ones of the three Pacific states - California, Oregon, and Washington. The first group are those of the early settlers. The second group of recipes are those using the foods that are typical of the Pacific slope. The third group of recipes is, perhaps, the one in which we take the greatest pride, as they are for the dishes that we prepare in a manner that is distinctively our own."
