This is a Hard-To-Find, VINTAGE, VERY GOOD Condition, Hand-Crafted "Mexican Souvenir Boy Man Oil Cloth Clothing Leather Sandals Straw Sombrero Gourd Folk Art Doll" handmade in Mexico in the mid-1950s. Purchased by my neighbor during a trip to Mexico in 1954, this Doll has stood inside a glass cabinet with her doll collection for the past 65+ years. Getting ready to move to a smaller home, I am helping her sell what she can’t take with her. This Doll is in VERY GOOD Condition but the Leather strap clay Sandals have age related drying and have cracked in places - SEE Pictures. Otherwise, there are NO rips, tears, marks, stains, odors or other damage; he comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. Standing approximately 11 inches tall from the tip of his Straw Sombrero to the base of his sandal clad feet, his Sombrero has a diameter of approximately 4 1/2 inches.



This Vintage Doll is a hand crafted piece of Mexican Souvenir Folk Art. He is a charming young boy man with a hand-painted gourd face complete with big eyes, eye brows, rosy red cheeks and a black mustache; his hair is fur. He is wearing hand sewn Oil Cloth traditional Mexican clothing with a Serape slung over his shoulder, a large straw Sombrero hat on his head and sandals made from clay and leather on his feet. His body is made of densely stuffed fabric and small nails were used to attach the clothing, shoes and hat. His HANDSOME Native Costume includes a floral shirt, striped serape and white muslin cloth pants slacks trousers. Wearing a large woven straw Sombrero hat, this spectacular Doll is looking for a new home.
