Brand new factory sealed vhs tape has a small cut-out mark through the upc code on the top right back corner. This was often done with record albums to signify a cut-out title that is Out Of Print (OOP) and no longer being manufactured in that format.

Catherine (Olivia de Havilland) is the plain, awkward daughter of wealthy widowed doctor Austin Sloper (Ralph Richardson), who is a belittling tyrant to his only child. Catherine has no suitors until handsome, fortune-seeking Morris Townsend (Montgomery Clift) approaches her.

Naturally, Dr. Sloper dismisses his interest and warns that his daughter will only end up with a broken heart. No happy endings here but the performances are superb.

Based on the Henry James novel and remade in '97 as 'Washington Square'.
