Trudy (Sonja Henie), a naive Norwegian girl, follows womanizing bandleader Duke Sargent (Cesar Romero) to America, thinking his flirtations are serious. When she catches him with another woman (Ethel Merman), she finds comfort in the arms of his manager (Don Ameche), who in turn launches her career as a skating star. A romantic mix-up follows that leads to scandalous front-page headlines.
