Brand new factory sealed vhs 2-tape set appears to have a gatefold booklet cover.
Ernest Hemingway novel gorgeously transfered to the screen.
Newly restored at 2 hours 46 minutes, this exclusive version includes the original theatrical trailer and footage that was cut immediately after the original premiere theatrical engagement in 1943, including the intermission music by Victor Young. The beautiful overture and intermission have been made into two unique video montages of rare production stills from the film.
The story follows Robert Jordan (Gary Cooper), an American demolition expert who lends his unique abilities to the anti-fascist freedom fighters of Spain. He's ordered to rendezvous with peasant guerillas, to aid in blowing up a bridge.
Assisting him is a band of warriors that includes the strong-willed Pilar (Katina Paxinou in an Oscar-winning performance), the dangerously undependable Pablo (Akim Tamiroff) and the lovely, innocent Maria (Ingrid Bergman).
As danger mounts, Robert and Maria develop a closeness, an interdependence, that blossoms into one of the screen's greatest love stories. Their passion grows as they approach the hour of judgement -- a climatic confrontation neither may survive.
Hemingway personally selected Cooper & Bergman for their roles.
