Pre-viewed for quality and had some lines and bad sound about 1/2 way through the movie for about 3 seconds. Played fine otherwise, very watchable except for this hiccup. Box has normal shelf wear around the corners and bottom edge.

Cassette is nice and clean with a store branded foil security sticker on the left endcap assuring you of first generation quality. Made for HBO TV movie when full screen was the norm so it does have a square aspect ratio, ditto that for the dvd release as well.

With all of the movies about real and fictional serial killers, none could top the real story of Chikatilo (Jeffrey DeMunn of 'Walking Dead' TV series) the former schoolteacher who killed and mutilated a record number (52) of young boys and girls in the Soviet Union. This made-for-cable movie shows how serious government corruption and backward police procedures made it possible for him to keep on killing for over eight years.

It's one of the most effective looks at life during the last days of the USSR. Stephen Rea stars as the forensic expert who persists in his nearly impossible job (he is blatantly told by party officials that "the Soviet state does not have serial killers") to find the killer. With Donald Sutherland as his military superior, Max Von Sydow as a psychiatrist, Radu Amzulrescu, John Wood and Joss Ackland. Filmed on location in Budapest and Hungary.
