Condition Classification Guidelines

Do the the inherent nature of vintage and antique items, condition descriptions are subjective. We do our best to describe the condition of our items as carefully as possible and we post several photos of the actual item for your review.

MINT - Like new. Highly unusual to see this classification as by very definition antique and vintage jewelry has either been worn or handled in some way. Additionally, there is the natural process of time-wear (similar to shelf-wear).

EXCELLENT- Outstanding condition. The best grade you can reasonably expect for antique/vintage jewelry. No wear that is unusual for its age.

VERY GOOD - Some signs of use consistent with age. May have a small dent, ding, chip, light scuffing, yellowing, or plating loss. Any of signs would be minor compared to the overall integrity of the piece and would not detract from its beauty when worn.

GOOD - Perfectly wearable and acceptable but signs of use described above are more significant and readily visible. May be missing a stone or have a broken finding that can be replaced or repaired

FAIR - Wear is severe and will need significant restoration or may be used for parts or scrap.

SCRAP/RECYCLE - Good for some usable parts, stones, crystals, or findings for jewelry design, inspiration, up-cycling, re-cycling, crafting or scrap.

We do not attempt to clean, polish, repair or otherwise alter any of our vintage or antique items. Vintage or antique jewelry may show a patina consistent with age. We sell our vintage items as acquired, as is. Sterling silver may show tarnish. Tarnish is not a defect, just a naturally occurring process on silver when exposed to air. Age/era is an estimation but represented to the best of our knowledge based on provenance or acquisition time frame. Stones, gems or pearls may show naturally occurring variations in color, quality or inclusions. Natural stones may vary in shape and size.
