All the book titles listed at the rear date no later than 1957, so I am tempted to believe that this edition may well be a first printing.  I am slightly bothered by the catalog number on the spine, which reads simply "1528" (rather than "1528:49"), unless Whitman was already in the process of planning to increase the suggested retail price to 59 cents, and simply didn't want to have to be bothered later on, with a minor spine correction.
