Here is a set of vintage hand painted redware art pottery ceramic black cat / kitten salt and pepper shakers with two similar cat figurines. Don't know if these are Shafford, or knock offs. They are approximately 2 3/4" tall.

The shakers are marked "Japan" in yellow paint on the bottom. One of the shakers has a chip at the ear, and another small chip down along the bottom rim. One of the shakers match one of the figurines exactly, but the salt and pepper figures are different styles from each other.

One cat figurine has a piece of felt glued to the bottom which might be hiding some markings, but otherwise no visible markings. The other figurine is marked Japan. It has a small crack on the bottom near the round hole. All pieces have some paint wear on their painted features.
