This lovely vintage necklace is made from 35 white ceramic or porcelain beads with each one having a detailed hand painted pink and red rose and a little blue flower with green stems and leaves. The beads are not exactly the same and have slight differences that are indicative of being hand painted and hand made. There is a white spacer bead with thin brass spacers on each side dividing the larger painted ones. It measures approximately 28 inches in length and 5/8 of an inch wide. This necklace belonged to my Mom and I would imagine it is from the 1960s or 1970s, but it could be much earlier. It is a substantial necklace and weighs 3.2 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 90.72 grams.
It is in excellent vintage condition with and older patina to the brass spacers. I looked at every bead with a magnifying lens and none of them are chipped or cracked. It is rare to find one in this great condition. It has a brass twist barrel clasp that is attached to the necklace with what looks like little brass springs.
It is a classic and elegant piece of jewelry that would be a great addition to your collection of one of a kind jewelry, each of the roses is slightly different with various hues of the pink, mauve and red.. These would be perfect to wear to a summer wedding.
