URANIUM ROCK

IKE-NIXON URANIUM MINE
Lisbon Valley, Utah
The rock was found at the Ike-Nixon Mine,
at Southeastern Utah, 40 miles from Moab.
A Bicron Analyst geiger counter
and a high-powered P3 pancake probe
assisted in this valuable discovery. If you
travel to Lisbon Valley Utah, you must climb
a steep gravel road with a sheer 200 ft cliff
to reach the Ike-Nixon mine site!! This rock's
activity level, 170k cpm, is in the faster
range, relative to other similar natural rocks
and above that of FiestaWare red plates. Its
measured response rate is approximately
5.7 times that detected from FiestaWare
ceramic dinner plates crafted during the
FiestaWare uranium era, 1936-1943. This
rock is fascinating to study with a magnifier:
it is mostly coffinite but there is a large
dark portion that contains uraninite, which
is associated with the famed Charlie
Steen "Mi Vida" mine, located three miles
west of the Ike-Nixon uranium mine where
this special rock was found. The white dots,
seen in photos, identify surface sites with
faster activity.
Weight of rock: 6.8 oz (349 gm)
WHAT TYPE OF MINERAL
IS THE ROCK?
It is coffinite combined with uraninite.
Advice from geologists who can identify
this ore more precisely will be appreciated.
The Ike-Nixon uranium mine is located
about 40 miles S.E. of the milling town of
Moab Utah. I visited nine of the uranium
mines four the four day expedition in
June 2017. This handsome rock
was made, nature, in USA!
ALL GOVERNMENTAL AND POSTAL
REGULATIONS WERE FOLLOWED
These regulations allow rock collectors to
own and to mail natural uranium rocks. The
federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
owns uranium fields and allows hobbyist "rock
hounds" to gather rocks at those fields. The
rocks must be properly labeled, and must be
double-boxed when mailed. The federal Nuclear
Regulatory Agency (NRC) does not allow manufacturing
of anything from the rocks without an advance NRC
license. The rock parcels can be mailed to addresses
within the USA but are NOT allowed to be
exported to any foreign country.
NEW MEXICO: TOP U.S. STATE
FOR URANIUM MINING
Historically, more uranium has been mined
in New Mexico than in any other state.
Utah is ranked as # 3, after New Mexico
and Colorado. WYOMING has richer
uranium reserves, but these are too deep
underground for large-scale mining to
be economically practical. VIRGINIA has
an absolutely gigantic uranium reserve
at Coles Hill VA, but in November 2019,
the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Virginia's
state law that bans any uranium mining.
BONUS 40-MINUTE DVD VIDEO,
NOT FOUND ON YOUTUBE!
Enclosed with the uranium rock will be my
original DVD video disk, Poison Canyon Uranium
Fields, dated March 2017. This 40-minute
video provides a narrated video tour of the
NM locale where many rocks can be found
through prospecting. This exclusive DVD
video program is enclosed at no extra cost.
(This video is NOT to be uploaded to YouTube.)
ALL FEDERAL REGULATIONS

allowed without NRC advance license; correct
labeling; medical health safety statement.
(3) U.S. Post Office (USPS): Double-
box packaging of rocks; shielding of
